circa:

1960

Ebay

notes:

This piece took some investigation to find who made it.  It's old and "Jo Povi Santa Clara" is scratched on the bottom, rather primitively.  But Schaaf's "Pottery.. Biographies" gave reference to two Jo Povi's - Linda Askan being the other.  This piece is closer to the time frame of Kathy and Linda is part Navajo, who would most likely not make an owl.  And since Kathy started being active before she was 10, this could explain the primitive appearing signature.

Kathy Silva was born in 1947 and has been active from 1953 to present (as of 2000).  She was taught by Severa Tafoya (great-grandmother) and Mary Agnes Tafoya (mother).
