But another
input laid the doubts to rest: "I am
convinced it is Maricopa, not San Juan. The wall thickness, the clay
and the design all are characteristic of Maricopa. I think what
may have fooled you was that the inside of the bowl was not stone
polished, but left in the natural state. Had it been polished, it
would have the same sheen as the exterior tan color. Normally, a bowl
would be polished on its inside. The careless painting is just related
to the potter who painted it. Not all potters are created equally."
